Our Story
Founder’s Story
AKT Therapy was inspired by a decade of world-wide travels.
Through her earlier work as private chef our founder Janus experienced many different parts of the world.
From the classical cuisine of Paris, to the bright and savoury aromas of Marrakesh and the Mediterranean, the exotic flavours of the east coastal islands of Kenya, each destination further inspired beautiful possibilities.
Exploring the local markets brought unique flavours and scents which emerged as potential formulas.
The secret of every great recipe are the quality of singular ingredients, at the peak of freshness.
After moving to Baja, Mexico in 2016—
With its sun-soaked days, chilled cool night winds, and with the desert at our doorstep she found inspiration:
Wild-harvested Baja lavender, jojoba, avocado, and other wonderful plants provided the base elements for our products.
“AKT Therapy was born
From the need for clean, buildable, regenerative skincare products with SPF protection.
They leave my skin feeling & looking better after each use!”
– Janus Auermann, Founder
A “Less is More” Philosophy Our skincare philosophy is centred around providing clean, buildable performance driven products that cover multiple uses therefore fewer products clutter up your drawer and our planet.
The Secret is our Supply Chain We know our suppliers well, they are part of the AKT family, and they are trusted and knowledgable in their sourcing. From the kelp beds of southern Baja to the northern bogs of Quebec we are in direct contact with our ingredients.
Packaging with Purpose Our sustainable packaging initiatives are always evolving, this is a place even a small company like ours works hard to make a difference, this is why we have forgone secondary packaging for so long. Our shipping boxes are made with 80% post-consumer recycled materials printing with algae based ink, recyclable glass bottles. See our individual product pages for specific disposal instructions.
No Animal Testing We love animals, it’s our commitment to cuteness and kindness.
Global EffortsWe offset our annual carbon emissions by purchasing carbon credits through EcoCart and support the work of IDA (International Dark Sky Association) that helps protect designated Sky Parks.
Shockingly, 80% of the population suffers from light pollution which directly affects human health + disrupts the eco system and wildlife. If you can’t see the stars from city visit Skyglow to check and see what you can do to reduce your impact!
